White Sands Campground ~ December 27th ~ Our Second Private Campground ~ Vancleave Mississippi....

So, the story starts like this....I have picked Bruce up at the end of his forty four miles as it is another fifty miles to camp. This is our second private campground and on the phone we were told we didn't need reservations.

We pulled into a mostly empty park with about five small RVs...no sign of life...it is almost dark and it looks bleak...Bruce, ever the optimist starts to walk around. I get back in car, "Note to self. NO private campgrounds."

I feel glum and tired and it is getting cold. A woman comes out of one of the RVs. "Can I help you?" WELL....turns out she could help us....like BIG TIME.

She finds out we are "bikers". And the gifts begin :) "I put my bikers over here." She is pointing to a lovely building I hadn't even looked at in my dismay of what the grounds looked like. "You can camp under the pavilion or on top or inside."

For the next twenty four hours we had torrential downpours with temperatures dropping dangerously low. We set up our tent on the Veranda of the Pavilion and were able to stay dry and with enough layers also warm.

Below are some pictures of my ducks and one Canadian Goose. I have missed my geese from our Blue Farmhouse in Monkton.

When I went for a walk the goose flew out to the water and then out and onto the land and would walk along with me. I would talk to her and she to me...we became great friends :) It might have had something to do with me feeding her :)

  1. I used to have thirty or more mallards come up the hill every morning when I lived on the Cape. They were all males. The next year they brought their mates. You can imagine what that was like.Yes,it was fun. Glad you made it out of the rain.
